Kawakawa has great cultural and medicinal significance for Māori and is now shown to have a range of pharmaceutical properties including - anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-spasmodic, anti-oxidant, and analgesic (pain relieving) content.
